Designer Brains
Will designer brains divide humanity?
13 May 2009 by Andy Coghlan -NewScientist.com
WE ARE on the brink of technological breakthroughs that could augment our mental powers beyond recognition. It will soon be possible to boost human brainpower with electronic "plug-ins" or even by genetic enhancement. What will this mean for the future of humanity?

This is interesting ... although personally, I don't think we as a species are mature enough to deal with the technology we already have BUT then again... maybe this is the kind of thing that causes a species-wide progression -- kind of like the beginning of 2001.
"I really just don't know..." she replied as she looked at the Magritte-style sky outside and then went back to re-edit the neuromodulation grant her program planned to submit by the end of the week.
I hope you had/ have a happy birthday my Taurus compatriot.
Thanks, Sirena...likewise. My birthday was spent prone...and not in a good way. The Derby rejuvenated me, and the Preakness left me walking on air. Now, if the Belmont follows form, I'll be a new man.
This post gives me the creeps. Don't people realize something is gained and something is lost in these deals? We are so technodrunk our linear fantasy fools us into thinking it's always onward and upward, we've lost sight of the true cyclical nature of things.
I'm all for paradigm shifts and seeing things with new eyes, if the quality of comprehension is elevated and not just the convenience of going about it.
Personally, I think our modern conveniences have left us scorched and fried and divorced from many things we used to know well, important things. Alzheimer's and autism rates are skyrocketing off the charts...it's no coincidence.
I'm getting back to the garden...I want none of it.
