The purpose of the BendermanTimeline is to present a chronology of facts surrounding Sgt. Kevin Benderman’s Conscientious Objection case. It is to provide all the tools needed for people to become educated in how the military service is able to use its self-imposed power to control a soldier who has proven himself honorable in his commitment to defending his country and its constitution, but refuses to lose his integrity and principles in the process.
Sgt. Kevin Benderman is a Conscientious Objector to war. His public statement to this has angered the US Army. Conscientious Objection is not something the Army wants soldiers to be aware of. It is not something the Army wants soldiers to consider. It is the worst enemy of the United States Army. But it is a legal enemy, legally accessible to any soldier who wants to take the arduous path to his own peace, and ultimately wage war with the mighty military machine.
The US Army Regulation 600-43 is the regulation which governs a soldier’s conscientious objection to war. It is twenty-three pages of legalese - designed as a deterrent to any soldier whose personal experiences might have brought him to the conclusion that he can no longer participate in war. Hey, Paula- I'll probably catch them all, before it's all said and done.
Actually, I'm not all that interested in politics...but I've always been fond of objectors, and these are dire times. Reminds me of the days of Ethan Allen and Patrick Henry. America is in the lurch...and the world hangs in the balance.
I got a bit bleary, reading about your airplane crying scene. I hope you are happy and well.
