Pope & Sympathy

No Sympathy For The Devil

Speaking of Zeppelin, have you guys heard how much Pope Benedict XVI hates rock 'n' roll?

In November of '96, Vatican hardliner Cardinal Ratzinger warned that heavy metal was an "instrument of the Devil" and endangered young people's souls. The future Pope (who was in Opus Dei, Da Vinci Code stizz!) singled out these groups as the worst offenders...

  • Pink Floyd
  • The Rolling Stones
  • Queen
  • Led Zeppelin
  • Black Sabbath
  • The Beatles
  • Alice Cooper
  • AC/DC
    ... and of course ...
  • The Eagles

D'you think 'her indoors' uses Daz? I suppose it creates drama when wearing white, he murders the sacificial lamb. I always thought the young boy issue checked the celibacy box whereas girls and women were more attributable to the 'carnal knowledge' issue. What the fuck, he needs fucking shooting. They'll ride him right into Palastine and some 'terrorist boy' ends up wearing his genitals around his neck. Bye popey, bye bye.

Humans are a complicated, conflicted lot. So much wasted motion and energy and creative potential. I don't get it.

???

Love got lost in the regulations.

Alot find their niche through pain and determination, often faces seem tough and twisted as if the price paid for a bit part in the main event was a mean streak and pathological disinterest in others.
From time to time, during one of my performances in the convenience store, a sad old git exploits my attempt at conversatonal pirouettes just because he can. Bitterness requires sweetening, christian love does ok but unfortunately it happens in the name of god rather than through personal goodwill. Loving kindness dictates simply for me that with smiles and soft speaking, sometimes the bridge across forever spans the gap of 10,000 misunderstandings and malevolences. Trust begets trust until the next ambush, then trust and trust again.

...and consider it unwise to look down, certain the Abyss is forever staring back.

Trust that. Or, play with fire.

Who could resist?

I am unable to ignore the providential image of the pope's ashen face and (too)serendipidous demonic horns.

Goes to a long-held proposition that evil (now, or perhaps, always)masquerades to everyone who seeks peace with god, as a living saviour.

As the charade gets more obvious and 'god' or 'christ' is disembowled by a million or more, sceptics, there is a question:

"Is it the case that things being held as true by the christians, have always been a figurative fleece to cover up the bad wolf, the embodiment of it's blatantly destructive nature?"

When, one day, humanity finally lays all the bullshit to rest, that will be the day of emancipation.

Cosmic reckoning is not entirely without humor, I reckon.

Personally, I'm smitten with Kogi cosmology. Throws into a cocked hat some of our comfortable, or more accustomed, conceptions.

Your question answers itself, in a way, and God is Other only in terms of blaming. Mythic concepts are models for getting a people's head around, not logically, but semiotically.

The deeper significances seep slowly into the cultural mind. Quantum realities don't translate well into the sacred vernacular of religious dialog, but religion is ultimately much more about the nature of things than idol worship.

Sometimes I do not fully track what you write, but I sure am doing to die (I meant 'try', just wrote 'die' instead!).

The Kogi are just as certain you aren't.

How do you like them apples?

I'm not intentionally cryptic or abstruse with my comments here, it's just these things don't lend themselves to compression. Simply trying not to be trite or glib. You aren't the easiest to follow, either. But these topics are grist for the mill, and it's a trip to pursue them.

If perception is reality, at least a form of it, mundane certainties have meaning. The quantum revelation holds that everything is interconnected -" I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together"- (I'm wearing this out, I know, but it's the best example.) and this has meaning beyond overt perception. The reality of it is revealed in subtle ways, but no less real than corpses in the streets of Haiti.

Theres more to living and dying than meets the eye.

Many truths and aspects of our mysterious realm seem absurd until they are accepted as obvious. That's the legitimate stairway upward. Not so much the trickery of discount salvation. Something sad and sentimentally exploitive in that.

I'm not being rude, things always escape each of us at times. On the third reading, I need to cast you off right now. Altogether lovely, this sensation of witnessing one of the latest frontiers.

Respect.
