Jack's one of those guys who in character minds me of what they called 'de trop' who by sheer bloodymindedness staked a claim for the space he just happened to occupy. He must feel really surplus to requirements, giving him a licence to transgress the boundaries of good taste, due to the effects becoming his raison d'etre, the role calling him to order, no impetus within. I hope to mourn his passing one day.
