Shadow of the Dalai Lama
THE SHADOW OF THE DALAI LAMA
Sexuality, Magic and Politics in Tibetan Buddhism
Translated by Mark Penny

Whenever a feeling of aversion comes into the heart of a good soul,
it's not without significance.
Consider that intuitive wisdom to be a Divine attribute,
not a vain suspicion:
the light of the heart has apprehended
intuitively from the Universal Tablet.

Man is superior to the stars if he lives in the power of superior wisdom. Such a person being the master over heaven and earth by means of his will is a magus and magic is not sorcery but supreme wisdom

It's like a reflex for post-modern people to think of religious figures "nobody could be THAT great" and thus to give credence to anyone who debunks them. I would suggest in this case that that reflex is really wrong. The few valid criticisms that the Trimondis raise against certain aspects of Tibetan Buddhism are buried in a mass of misunderstanding and distortion. The interpretations they give are VERY biased. Please try to find out about Vajrayana from other sources before yoy accept anything they say at face value.
Thanks for that. I agree, whole-heartedly. People often assume that I advocate every position I feature here. I don't. This is just an effort to collect and showcase interesting and varied, often controversial, information.
Please stop by often and voice your opinion. You are welcome here, and I'd very much like to hear your views on Vajrayana. You might be surprised at my personal history with it.
Sometimes the best way to expose the dark aspects of humanity (inhumanity?) is to shine a small light, and show the way for others to contribute.
One other thing: I notice in their "comments" page, they don't include anything negative...the comments are glowing in approval. Even the comments by those with reservations or disagreements. There is not one outright negative response from someone diametrically opposed. This is telling. It shows the nature of bias and sense of fairness.
There is interesting information here, and legitimate criticisms. There is also a "throwing the baby out with the bath-water" dynamic in this. The rich legitimacy, beauty, and power of Vajrayana (and many Eastern forms of higher thinking) are lost on some, but nothing endures which is as fundamentally flawed as these authors would have us believe about Buddhism.
